Cultivating Sustainable Economies in the Mediterranean through Valorisation of Bushland Ecosystems
Project MedSEVa aims to enhance professional opportunities for higher education students by equipping them with a holistic understanding of the valorisation of Mediterranean bushlands and maquis. The project promotes the conservation and sustainable use of these ecosystems, highlighting their valuable resources, such as medicinal plants, food sources, and cosmetic applications. Additionally, it seeks to revive, preserve, and promote traditional ecological knowledge while integrating underutilized plant species and minor crops into sustainable agricultural practices and economic models.

Target Groups

This group consists of higher education students from disciplines directly aligned with the project's objectives, including Botany, Agriculture, Agronomy, Ecology, Gastronomy, Pharmacy, Landscape Architecture, and Geography. - Indirect Target Group (ITG)
This group includes landowners and residents of low-density Mediterranean areas, local community groups, agricultural cooperatives, and municipalities.
Products and Outcomes
- PR1 | MedSEVa Handbook – A comprehensive guide designed to promote sustainable economies in the Mediterranean by valuing bushland ecosystems. It integrates scientific research, traditional knowledge, and practical insights to support the conservation and sustainable use of Mediterranean bushlands and maquis.
- PR2 | MedSEVa Storytelling Resources – A collection of short videos, podcast interviews, and multimedia content that illustrate successful practices and theoretical concepts. By blending scientific findings with traditional knowledge, these resources create an engaging narrative around the sustainable use and conservation of Mediterranean bushlands and maquis.
- PR3 | MedSEVa HUB – A dynamic online platform that consolidates all educational materials, research findings, and community insights generated by the MedSEVa project, fostering knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
